Cara Schmidt, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Hello, my name is Cara Schmidt, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.  My career focus is to help adult/young adult clients who struggle with anxiety and depression due to life circumstances such as relationships, careers, family, and life transitions.  I believe mental health issues can be overcome by gaining insight and self-awareness to enable change.  Utilizing a strengths-based therapeutic approach as well as mindfulness-based stress reduction, empowers clients to acknowledge, accept and work through situations within and beyond their control.

I earned a master’s degree at Northeastern University Chicago in Mental Health/Family Counseling.  For the past decade, I have been working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including hospitals, crisis, and private practice, working with adolescents, adults, and families.  In my free time, I love being with my family and friends enjoying simple pleasures in life.  Being in nature and going on outdoor adventures are a few of my favorite things to do!  An interesting fact about me: I hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim and survived!
